Licensing Frequently Asked Questions

How is Oracle Diagnostic Pack licensed? (and other database options)
When licensing Oracle Diagnostics Pack you can choose between a license based on Named User Plus or Processor. When you go to our store and enter ‘diagnostic’ in the search box you will go directly to the Diagnostic product page. When you look at the 'please select item' drop down box, you see all the options. It comes down to Per Processor or Named User Plus metric. Besides this you can choose between a Perpetual or a Term license. Term means it will expire in 1, 2… 5 Years. It is less expensive but you have to buy it again after the term ends.

Important. When licensing a database option (i.e. Diagnostic Pack) it is important to know the following Oracle license policy which is often forgotten. ‘The number and metric of the Diagnostic Pack must match the number and metric of the database that the Diagnostic Pack will be used for. So, if you have an Oracle database which is licensed with a 60 Named User Plus you must buy 60 Named User Plus Diagnostic Pack. There is no limitation within the Oracle License Store, you can order the amount and metric you want, but in terms of correct licensing it is important to know that the quantity of the option must match the quantity of the associated database.

Support is optional (Software Update License and Support).

The pricing as displayed in our store offers a large discount. Sometimes there is a limit time offer. Ask for your discount if you have a large order.

User minimums Oracle Weblogic
(Question)
I am trying to determine the user minimums for Oracle Weblogic. Both your site and Oracles own site suggest checking user minimums when purchasing software. However, the only information I can find online about this pertains to Oracle Database products. Could you please direct me to the location on your site which discusses/specifies the user minimum requirements for non-database products such as Weblogic and Internet Application Server.

(Answer)
The minimum requirement for Oracle Weblogic and for Internet Application Server products is 10 Named User Plus per Processor. The right document is the OLSA, which can be found at our store, here.

You have to be careful working with minimums. They may vary from product to product and there are sometimes more license restrictions (other than user minimums). My advice is to contact us if you have a specific case, just to make sure you meet all requirements.
